WMS & TMS Evaluation & Selection - A mid-market mail consolidation start-up business needed to state-of-the-market IT systems for warehousing (WMS) and transportation (TMS) management. Mail consolidation feeds shipments into the US Postal Service (USPS) distribution network for mail delivery and introduces unique handling, data, and labeling requirements.

Working with USPS subject matter experts, 3PLR discovered the unique USPS requirements, as well as the 3PL client’s end-to-end warehousing and transportation requirements, which served as inputs for the Request for Quotation (RFQ) and IT vendor selection process. Using a robust methodology, 3PLR guided the client through the RFQ process, including conference room pilot, gap analysis and mitigation, license and maintenance negotiation, and selection of a middle-market supply chain system with integrated warehouse and transportation management capabilities (WMS and TMS).

Systems implementation included definition of technology infrastructure to support the data center, scanning equipment and communications. The client engaged our consultants to facilitate WMS and TMS implementation and user training over the course of 5 months, ending with go-live and hypercare through stabilization.
